Present:

Today the European Union is very different than it was when it originally started. There have been many alters over the years and different opinions. At first, so many countries wanted to join it seemed so great there were so many benefits from joining such a powerful Union. Such as free trade, a shared currency that historically has done very well, etc. But as time started to move forward things started to change countries didn't care about the benefits anymore they didn't care about the unions between other European countries they had a major opinion change. People are now criticizing the European Union for many things such as their economic policy on farming. The Common Agricultural policy is one of the things that many do not like about the EU it is a policy that gets farmers to create goods that are not in high demand and caused the EU to have an economic downfall. Countries such as Greece are bankrupt and are freeloading off the EU while slowly dragging the economy down with them.

Brexit:

This is a word being thrown around in the news a lot currently. It is a term that refers to Britain withdrawing from the EU. Britain wanted to withdraw from the EU due to many different reasons but it was mostly due to the economics and sovereignty. The first and most simple reason was the economics. Britain didn't like the unsteadiness of the EU's economy there were lucky countries like Germany with an only 5% unemployment rate but the rest of southern Europe had a 20% unemployment rate. This was a clear danger sign in britians eyes. Britain also disliked the EU's failure to address the economic downfall from 2008. Britain felt like their mutual trust was being lost which not only the government felt but what over half of the population did. Another reason was the sovereignty that the leaders were showing. The leaders were showing that they had power over most EU decisions due to the immigration organization. The EU was accepting so many immigrants and distributing them across Europe without a countries clear consent. This was also a danger sign for Britain as they did not want too many immigrants as it did not fit in their economy. This was just one event that caused Britain to withdraw from the EU. Britain is now starting the process to withdraw from the EU they will officially be out of the EU on March, 29, 2019.
